What I do at Verdantas
Southern Delaware Department Leader and Senior Consultant/Project Manager. I currently work with our staff reporting to our Dover and Lewes offices.
Who am I?
After growing up in New York, I attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering. During my education, I interned as a construction technician and assisted with geotechnical engineering projects. After receiving my MS in Geotechnical Engineering from UMass Amherst, I returned to Delaware and served as a field engineer, project engineer, project manager, and group leader. My experience includes projects involving geotechnical engineering, pavement design and rehabilitation, construction review and materials testing, civil engineering, and environmental consulting related to asbestos, lead-based paint and mold. I am also a Professional Engineer and a LEED Accredited Professional.
Advice for prospective candidates
I encourage candidates and engineering students to apply for jobs and contact companies that they are enthusiastic about. Showing interest in engineering and willingness to learn are qualities that are much more important than being a "perfect fit" for the qualifications in a job posting. As a Past President for the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers (DAPE), I also recommend students take the FE Exam early in their careers or while still in school. Being an EIT is an accomplishment and provides future flexibility.
